Monterey Select Board
Minutes of the meeting of 5/14/15
Meeting Opened at: 4:15pm
Select Board Members Present: Scott Jenssen, Chairperson, Kenn Basler and Steve Weisz
Also in attendance for parts of the meeting: Kevin Fitzpatrick and Shawn Tryon
The Board along with the Director of Operations interviewed Kevin Fitzpatrick for the position of Highway Member 3. Shawn has contacted all of Kevin’s references and all were positive. Discussion ensued about additional responsibilities that may be needed as a backup for the transfer station attendant. Kevin also stated that he has no problem joining the fire department as well to help out with any calls that come in during the day. Kevin was offered the position with a 6 month probationary period and must apply for his hoisting license during this time for $46,020/Yr. Kevin will start on June 1st.
Miscellaneous Select Board Items Reviewed:
1. On Monday the Board will discuss placing an ad in the Shopper’s Guide looking for a transfer station attendant as well as what the bulky waste fees that will be which will go into effect July 1st. A solution was discussed that would allow someone that forgot their sticker or hasn’t yet purchased their sticker would be able to purchase a one day “pass” for $10 and would have to sign something with their license plate and address.
2. Kenn and Steve will be meeting on Wed at 10am with DEP, Shawn Tryon and Berkshire Geo-Technologies about the new transfer station.
3. The Board discussed and agreed that beginning May 18th all Select Board meeting will begin at 4:15pm. The agenda for this Monday was already posted but will be amended to reflect the new time.
A motion was made and unanimously approved to adjourn the meeting at: 5:45pm
